Ryan T. Heuwinkel – Shareholder
Ryan was born and raised in and around Council Bluffs, Iowa. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1998, he spent a year driving a taxi in Iowa City before bouncing around the West for a few years, landing in Missoula in 2002 to attend law school at the University of Montana.
Ryan met his wife Elizabeth while they were in law school together. They have two children. In his free time, Ryan enjoys music and riding mountain bikes.
During law school, Ryan worked at the Missoula City Attorney’s Office, was on the National Moot Court team, and was a clinical law clerk at the U.S. District Court in Missoula. In 2005, Ryan graduated from the University of Montana School of Law with honors. After graduation, Ryan accepted a position as a U.S. District Court law clerk in Billings, where he stayed for over eight years. In late 2013, Ryan entered private practice at Bohyer, Erickson, Beaudette, & Tranel. He became a shareholder in January of 2017.
Ryan is a member of the State Bar of Montana, the U.S. District Court Criminal Justice Act panel and is admitted to practice in all Montana State and Federal Courts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. His practice includes insurance defense and coverage, personal injury, construction, general civil litigation, and federal criminal defense, with a focus on insurance law, including insurance coverage and bad faith.
